![]() So I donated and sold almost all my closet including some of my shoes. Two years ago, after looking at my closet I decided to go as minimal as possible and only buy things that looked good on me and fitted me well. Then a bit of Corneliani and Zegna clothings here and there, and a couple of Isaia jackets and shirts. It wasn't until I was 28-29 that I started buying shoes from Crockett and Jones and Church's. Not sure if that is the right term, but I used to buy a lot of clothes and shoes from Massimo Dutti. Throughout my 20's I was fascinated with the trendy classic style. But since I have not had the chance to meet him or talk to him, I continue to respect him, and consider him as a self-made passionate man that he portraits himself (until proven otherwise). Do I buy into his belief and the "humanistic capitalism" ? I am a bit conflicted! Maybe if I meet him, and ask him some questions about his stance on all this, then I could make up my mind about his motivations. I just find him over use quotes by his favourite philosophers and it sounds like in every sentence he fits in Voltaire, Jaques Costeau or Marcus Aurelius which can be perceived as a bit un-original. He sounds like he really is there to make beautiful product, take care of all the artisans and craftsmen/women. I do not know him personally, but Brunello sounds genuine. Usually, patterned and textured sweaters make me look bulky but not in BC sweaters.Īll in all, I like the man. I dislike long sleeves and baggy sleeves and BC has definitely mastered the art of making the perfect of the peg sweater. I have tried Loro Piana, Zegna, Johnston of Elgin, and a few more sweater makers and the BC fit (at least for my body) is absolutely impeccable. But their main textured patterned cashmere sweaters are phenomenal, and by that I mean both quality of their cashmere and the fit, though it will set you back around $2500 and up. The price range is roughly around $600-900. So here I go, in the first part I am going to review Cucinelli pieces that I own and then I will talk about Brunello Cucinelli himself, his philosophy and the products and I will explain why I chose BC.īC has a basic line of sweaters made out of cashmere and I own a couple of them. Also, when I was getting into luxury clothing I could not find any information about Brunello Cucinelli menswear what so ever. So I am going to make an attempt to argue against such views. The moral of the story was that we were both feeling guilty about spending $$$$$ on things that are viewed as excessive, or waste of money. He loves his watches and I love my clothes and shoes. ![]() The reason I decided to write this post is because a few months ago my friend and I got into a heated discussion about luxury goods. ![]()
